Marc Jacobs - Jacobs Store Manager Charged With Grand Larceny

A manager at a MARC JACOBS boutique has been charged with grand larceny after stealing $62,000 (GBP31,000) from the New York store he ran.

Kyle Avila, 24, was turned in to authorities on Monday (12May08) after failing to come up with the missing sum when fellow store manager Mike Okerson reported the losses at the West Village, Manhattan accessories boutique to Jacobs' corporate offices.

According to court documents, Avila admitted to Okerson, "I've been stealing the money from the money drops. I have been doing it for a while."

Avila remains in jail after failing to post $2,000 (GBP1,000) bail and was arraigned on Wednesday (14May08), according to the Manhattan District Attorney's office.

A spokesperson for Jacobs did not return calls seeking comment.
